Chief Executive's Dinner 2012

Monday 20 February 2012 - 7.30pm - 10.30pm

A new annual event inspired by our popular Finance Directors’ Dinner, the Quoted Companies Alliance’s Chief Executives’ Dinner aims to bring small and mid-sized quoted company CEOs together to hear from leading directors of British companies and share experiences about the job and running a business.

To kick start this new event, we will be joined by two speakers - Sir Richard Lapthorne, Chairman and Simon Ball NED & Deputy Chairman of Cable & Wireless Communications. They will talk about their views of the current market and key issues affecting their company, providing a unique opportunity to hear about how Cable and Wireless, a British-founded company, has grown into a global, FTSE 250 telecoms business. With both the Chairman and Deputy Chairman speaking, this dinner is sure to provide you with plenty of anecdotes and stories on growing a business and the key issues you'll face throughout the process of being a Chief Executive of a public company, particularly in this difficult economic climate.

More about the speakers:

Sir Richard Lapthorne was appointed as the Chairman of Cable & Wireless Communications on 25 January 2010, having served as Cable and Wireless plc Chairman from his appointment in January 2003.  He has also recently served as Chairman of the private equity-owned fashion retailer New Look and of the McLaren Group.

Simon Ball was appointed as a Non-Executive Director of Cable & Wireless Communications on 25 January 2010, having served as a Non-Executive Director of Cable and Wireless plc from his appointment in May 2006. On 11 November 2008, Simon became an Investor Director on the Cable & Wireless Worldwide and Cable & Wireless Communications Operating Boards.Simon was group finance director for 3i Group plc until November 2008, having served on its main board since April 2005.

The evening begins at 7.30pm with a welcome drink, during dinner you will hear from our speakers and carriages will be at 10.30pm. Dress for the evening is lounge suits.
