QCA Board meets Syed Kamall MEP

14th September 2011

On the 9 September 2011, members of the Quoted Companies Alliance Executive Committee met with Syed Kamall MEP and had an open discussion about his work in the European Parliament.

Syed Kamall is a conservative MEP for London and sits on the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee, focusing on financial services regulation. He was most recently shadow rapporteur for the Alternative Investment Fund Managers (AIFM) Directive.

Mr Kamall provide insight into the inner workings of Parliament and the European Commission, outlining how legislation is made and the role that campaigning bodies, like the Quoted Companies Alliance, play in this process. We also took the opportunity to highlight key issues currently under review in Brussels that affect small and mid-cap quoted companies, such as the Prospectus Directive, Market Abuse Directive, Transparency Directive and MiFID.
