This programme of dinners features an event for each board member of a quoted company, where the topics and issues discussed are focused on your specific role.

These dinners bring together small and mid-size quoted company directors to hear from leading directors of larger companies, subject matter experts and / or industry leaders about their roles and how they have added shareholder value. Each dinner discussion focuses on the part played by specific roles on a Board (both executive and non-executive). The topics covered will provide you with plenty of insights on the key issues board members of quoted companies face, as well as the opportunity to share experiences with your peers who face similar issues. 

How it works:

The evening begins at 6:30pm with a welcome drink. During dinner, you will hear from our speakers and then have the opportunity to join in the discussion around the specific topic of the event. The dinner will conclude at 9:30pm.

Dress Code for the evening is business attire.

Where: 

The dinners will be taking place in a restaurant or in a members' offices in the City.

Cost:

This event is free to Quoted Companies Alliance members and £375 + VAT for non-members.

Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis, as the numbers are strictly limited. These events are open to company secretaries or company directors of quoted companies.

Cancellations must be made in writing at least one calendar month before the event. No refunds will be made for cancellations after this time. Please note speakers are subject to change. The Quoted Companies Alliance reserves the right to alter any part of this schedule without prior notice. Your details will be passed on to the sponsor and used only in conjunction with this event. Andrew Belshaw, CFO, Gamma Communications

Andrew has been CFO of Gamma since 2014, having previously spent seven years in various senior finance roles within the group. A chartered accountant by background, he has worked in both audit and corporate finance at Deloitte and Ernst & Young specialising in providing advice to a wide range of clients in the technology sector. After leaving private practice, Andrew worked alongside the commercial director in a new business development role at Xansa plc before joining Gamma.

Simon Bentley, Former NED, Sports Direct PLC

Simon is a qualified chartered accountant. In 1987 he joined Blacks Leisure Group plc as a director, where he was Chairman and CEO for 12 years. Simon chairs and has been on the board of a range of companies. He joined the Board of Sports Direct International PLC, at the time of their UK Stock Exchange listing, as the Senior Independent Director. He was Acting Chairman for two and a half years, and at the recent AGM stepped down as a director after 12 years. He was the Chairman of their Audit Committee.

Simon is Chairman of the leading hair brand and salon operator Umberto Giannini, and NED of Global Home Group, the international supplier of home furniture. He was Chairman of the AIM listed, Swiss Domino’s Pizza franchisee, Global Brands SA, and was Chairman of the Trustees of the country’s premier leadership in management organisation; The Leadership Trust, having served as a trustee for over 22 years. He is the principal owner and Chairman of the leading mobile ATM operator, Cash on the Move.

Michael Grade, Former Chairman of BBC & ITV

Michael Grade has had a long career in broadcasting, encompassing London Weekend Television, the BBC, ITV, as well as over nine years as Chief Executive of Channel Four Television.

He is co-founder of the GradeLinnit company, which produces for the theatre.

In January 2011 he became the Conservative Peer, Lord Grade of Yarmouth.

Xavier Rolet, Chief Executive Officer, CQS

Prior to joining CQS in January 2019, Xavier was Chief Executive Officer of the London Stock Exchange from May 2009 until November 2017, having been appointed to the Company’s Board in March 2009. He was Chief Executive Officer of Lehman Brothers in France from July 2007 to 7 January 2009. He became a member of Lehman Brothers’ European Operating Committee in 2003, having joined the firm in February 2000 in New York as co-head of Global Equity Trading. Xavier started his career on the International Arbitrage desk at Goldman Sachs & Co. in New York in January 1984. In 1990, he moved to London as co-head of European Equity Sales and Trading. He joined Credit Suisse First Boston in 1994 as global head of European Equities before moving to Dresdner Kleinwort Benson as global head of Risk and Trading, and deputy head of Global Equities in 1997.

After graduating from the KEDGE Business School with an MSc in management science and finance in 1981, Xavier served as a second lieutenant and instructor at the French Air Force Academy, earned an MBA from Columbia Business School in 1984 and a post-graduate degree from Paris-based IHEDN (Institute of Advanced Studies in National Defence) in 2008.
