Bad AGMs and How to Avoid Them

Annual General Meetings mostly pass without incident, but what if you get a disgruntled shareholder, an unexpected proposal or a surprise result on a vote?

Together with Charles Russell Speechlys and the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA), we are holding an evening of essential tips to help avoid those difficult AGMs that no one wants to experience. The event will be based around a mock AGM role play, and will help you to know what to do if issues do still arise and to prepare you for the 2019 ‘AGM Season’.

You will be able to learn about the planning and preparation for your AGM, hear some disaster stories and discover how best to avoid them happening to you. From the responsibilities of the Chairman, attempts to replace the Chair and amend resolutions, to handling the press; all these and more will be covered in an informative yet entertaining way. Our expert panel will endeavour to prepare you for (almost) every eventuality.

The speakers at the event will be:

  • George Dallas, Policy Director, ICGN
  • Peter Simmonds, Non Executive Director, dotDigital Group PLC
  • Harry Chathli, Director, Luther Pendragon
  • Peter Swabey, Policy & Research Director, ICSA
  • David Hicks, Partner, Charles Russell Speechlys

Date: Wednesday 30 January 2019
Time: 5pm (for a 5:30pm start) 7pm Drinks & Canapes
Location: London Office of Charles Russell Speechlys LLP
