Freda Isingoma, Fund Manager, Octopus Investments Limited

Freda Isingoma is an accomplished investment banking professional and entrepreneur with a diverse background in multinational institutions across the UK, US, and South Africa. She currently serves as the Head of AIM VCTs and Senior Fund Manager at Octopus Investments, a leading Venture Capital firm in the UK. As part of the award-winning Octopus Smaller Companies team, Freda manages a team of investment professionals responsible for overseeing two AIM VCTs.

Freda also sits on the Investment Committee for Octopus Apollo VCT, the UK’s second-largest Venture Capital Trust, specializing in B2B software companies. She is responsible for reviewing investment recommendations and assessing performance against benchmarks to align with the fund’s objectives. In addition to her role at Octopus Investments, Freda is an Anchor Member of the UK Government Department of Business and Trade’s Africa Working Group. This role involves promoting UK capital markets for African tech companies through events in key African cities.

Freda has been collecting African and Diaspora art for over 20 years and has launched the KIISA Collector Series to build a global strategy for the art ecosystem. She has advised prominent collectors and institutions on African art investment strategies and has delivered lectures at Harvard and Stanford Universities. Freda is a Distinguished Guest Lecturer at Spelman/Morehouse College and served on the Selection Committee for the Zimbabwe Pavilion at the Venice Biennale. She is a Board Trustee of the Yinka Shonibare Foundation and a member of the AUC Art History & Curatorial Studies External Advisory Group.
