Ian Hart
Director General, The Takeover Panel

Ian Hart joined the Takeover Panel on secondment as Director General in July 2021 from UBS. He joined UBS in 2016 as the Co-Chairman of UK Investment Banking and has 30 years of
investment banking experience. He previously worked at Morgan Stanley for 7 years, Citi/Schroders for 13 years, where he was Co-Head of European M&A, and S.G. Warburg. Ian has spent his career in advisory and M&A, advising clients such as SAB Miller, J Sainsbury, Imperial Tobacco, Marks & Spencer and P&O Princess. His transaction experience includes SAB Miller’s defence against Anheuser-Busch InBev, Imperial Tobacco’s acquisition of Altadis, BP’s sale of its stake in TNK-BP to Rosneft, the acquisition by Dentsu of Aegis, Marks & Spencer’s defence against a takeover from Philip Green and GIP’s offer for Signature Aviation. Ian qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Young in 1990 and prior to that read PPE at Oxford University.

Charlie Crawshay
Deputy Director General, The Takeover Panel

Charlie Crawshay joined the Takeover Panel as a permanent Secretary in April 2001 having previously been on secondment for two years from 1998 to 2000. In April 2009, he was appointed as a Deputy Director General. He previously worked as a solicitor for Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Travers Smith.
