On September 19, 2024, we once again welcomed our community for an evening to celebrate the achievements of growth companies across the UK.
Attendees, including members, company directors, advisers, investors, regulators, MPs, and media representatives, came together to meet old friends, hear inspiring stories and build new connections.
The event is a unique opportunity to unite the growth company sector, strengthen our community, foster networking, and showcase the substantial impact these companies have on the UK economy.
Below are the highlights of this year’s evening.
We were delighted to welcome producer and presenter Elma Smit as host for the evening, where she brought her expertise and engaging style to the event. With a law degree and Emmy nomination, Elma ensured that discussions were focused and insightful. Her energy and ability to navigate a wide range of topics made for a captivating experience.
QCA Chair Judith MacKenzie welcomed the guests and highlighted the vital role and impact quoted companies play in driving the UK economy. Judith emphasised the importance of fostering strong relationships within the growth company sector. Shre reiterated that with the support of our members and in collaboration with the broader community, we are committed to ensuring that the public market ecosystem serves small and mid-cap companies.
Our after dinner speaker was Justin Webb, co-presenter of BBC Radio 4’s Today programme and expert in UK-US relations.
Fresh from last month’s Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Justin shared his thoughts on the Trump-Harris battle for the White House in November and how the victor might get along with Sir Keir Starmer’s new UK government.
We were also delighted to host a charity raffle in support of the Mayor’s Fund for London, a charity that champions opportunities for young Londoners facing the biggest barriers.
There were a variety of exciting prizes donated by generous sponsors. It was an exciting opportunity for our guests to win prizes, while also serving as a powerful reminder of the positive impact charitable giving can have on the broader community. Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed, and congratulations to the prize winners!
