The QCA Team
We are a small team with big ambitions: to represent our members' interests with government, regulators and the media. We are organised into three areas: policy and research; membership, sponsorship and operations; marketing, events and communications.
James Ashton is Chief Executive of the Quoted Companies Alliance, the members’ organisation that champions small and mid-sized companies whose shares are publicly traded. James was City Editor and Executive Editor of the Evening Standard and Independent titles and before that City Editor of the Sunday Times. He is the author of several business books and chairs Oscar’s Book Prize, the annual search for the UK’s best picture book. James is also a non-executive director of Finsbury Growth & Income, the FTSE 250 investment trust.
Cleo is the PA to the CEO. Cleo is the secretary for the board of directors and is responsible for the general management of the office.
Samar is the Commercial & Marketing Director. She is responsible for developing the membership value proposition and overseeing the creation and implementation of marketing strategies to drive business growth.
Prior to joining the Quoted Companies Alliance, Samar was Assistant Director of Membership & Professional Standards at the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.
With over two decades of diverse experience across membership organisations, financial institutions, international advertising agencies, and her own business, Samar has a strong track record in designing and executing marketing and communications, growth, and retention strategies.
Ruby joined the Quoted Companies Alliance in May 2021 and is responsible for managing various communication projects across the business.
She has a dynamic background in finance, global energy and the non-profit charity sector.
She has extensive experience in communications having led international communication strategies, brand & reputation management & crisis communications for a leading energy company. She has also been responsible for leading Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives and has managed events and other sustainability projects at high-profile conferences such as the World Economic Forum (WEF) and the Conference of the Parties (COP). Currently, she serves on the board of a youth engagement charity.
Ruby holds a BA (Hons) in Business Management from the University of Westminster and a MSc in Global Governance and Public Policy from Birkbeck University.
Claire is our Marketing & Events Executive and joined our team in August 2023. She is responsible for coordination of events for the Quoted Companies Alliance & supporting the Head of Marketing & Events.
Hayley is the Head of Operations and joined the Quoted Companies Alliance in 1997. She is responsible for the development of member benefits and services, ensuring that members needs are addressed and helping members to make the most of their memberships. She also manages and develops sponsorship opportunities.
She previously worked at BDO LLP.
Chris is the Membership Manager and joined the Quoted Companies Alliance in 2001. Chris ensures our members’ needs are addressed and is responsible for providing daily assistance to new and existing members.
Jack is the Head of Policy and is responsible for building the organisation’s policy positions and strategy, leading on engagement with policymakers and regulators, responding to consultation papers and maintaining and updating the QCA’s Corporate Governance Code and various guides and reports.
Prior to joining the Quoted Companies Alliance, Jack worked in a Public Affairs role for a major international charity and also worked for Victoria Prentis MP in her constituency office and interned for Andrea Leadsom MP. Jack holds a BA (Hons) in International Relations from the University of Leeds.
Ben is the Policy Manager and joined the Quoted Companies Alliance in February 2023. He is responsible for coordinating the work the of the seven policy expert groups, responding to consultation papers and contributing to the organisation’s policy positions.
Prior to joining the QCA, Ben worked in both Policy and Grant Fundraising in the charity sector. Ben holds a BA (Hons) in Politics from Newcastle University and an MA in Legal and Political Theory from University College London (UCL).
Khin is a financial accountant with an over 15-year career in financial accounting. Her professional journey has encompassed roles in the private sector and entrepreneurship before she joined her current position as a Management Accountant at QCA, where she is responsible for all financial aspects of the organisation.
