The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators and Hermes Equity Ownership Services launched their highly successful Transparency in Governance Awards in 2009. The objective of the Awards is to acknowledge high standards of governance disclosure in companies’ annual reports. The Awards, backed by the Government, the FT, the ABI, the CBI and the Quoted Companies Alliance, provide a showcase for those companies who have excelled in their standards of corporate reporting.
The Awards include the category for the best overall report for FTSE small cap and AIM-quoted companies. Companies who would like to have their annual reports considered for short-listing should contact smallcapaward@icsaglobal.com with a PDF copy of their annual report by the deadline for this year’s nominations, which is 31 July 2013.
The judges will take account of how the company reports its strategy and risks together with how it reports on its governance – including board performance, remuneration and the work of its committees. The judges are keen to understand from the reports how long-term value will be created and sustained for shareholders.
The Award will be presented at the ICSA Awards dinner on 13 November 2013 at the Brewery, Chiswell Street, London, EC1Y 4SD. This is a prestigious event and, last year, was attended by over 500 influential guests from leading City organisations, including FTSE chairmen, company secretaries and other professionals associated with the work of the UK’s boardrooms.
Gaining this Award will be an achievement recognised by many of the winning company’s stakeholders – from within as well as outside of the organisation. For more information about the awards, please visit the ICSA/Hermes Excellent in Governance Awards 2013 website.
