The Quoted Companies Alliance (QCA), an independent membership organisation that champions the interests of small and mid-sized quoted companies in the UK, is delighted to announce the appointment of Gervais Williams as its next President.

Gervais brings a wealth of experience to the role, having served as both a board member and Chairman during his 12-year tenure with QCA. His career in fund management spans over 30 years, including a 17-year stint at Gartmore. In 2011, Gervais joined Premier Miton Group plc where he successfully established multiple funds that collectively now manage assets exceeding £1bn. Currently, he is a member of the AIM Advisory Panel at the London Stock Exchange.

In his role as President, Gervais will continue to enhance the QCA’s standing with government, regulators, the media, and with the membership at a crucial time for the growth company sector.

QCA President is an honorary, non-board position. Gervais will take up the role for an initial one-year term from the QCA’s AGM on October 19 2023, at which point he will depart the board.

Previous QCA Presidents include Brian Winterflood and Lord Michael Heseltine.

Gervais Williams, the incoming QCA President, said:

“It is an honour to become President of the QCA at this time, when small cap innovation is offering so much opportunity. When stock markets work well, they improve the prospects for the whole electorate, via additional skilled employment, increased productivity that can then drive wage growth above inflation on a sustainable basis, and ultimately in additional tax take for the government. Globalisation may have favoured the mega caps, but from here investors will have greater need of quoted smallness, where the UK stock exchanges lead the world.”

Judith MacKenzie, Chair of the QCA said:

“As a long-standing and award-winning small cap fund manager, Gervais has a presence and authority which has lent strength to the essential work and lobbying that is at the heart of the QCA. It is therefore a privilege that Gervais has continued his association with us and accepted the invitation to become President. This is both an ambassadorial and mentoring role which will play to his strengths as a figurehead in the market and his in-depth knowledge of the issues that affect UK small and mid-caps.”

James Ashton, Chief Executive of the QCA said:

“I’m delighted the QCA continues to benefit from Gervais’s energy and enthusiasm. It is a pivotal time for our industry and our new President is sure to amplify the value of growth stocks to the UK, as well as communicating what needs to be done to really nurture them for all our benefit.”
