The Quoted Companies Alliance, the representative body for the UK’s small and mid-cap quoted company sector, announces the appointment of Alan Newman, Chief Financial Officer of YouGov plc, and Richard Steele, Non-Executive Chairman of Portmeirion Group plc, to its board of directors. This is with effect from 4th October 2011, following the Quoted Companies Alliance’s Annual General Meeting.
Alan Newman has been Chief Financial Officer of YouGov plc since June 2008. He was previously a Partner in Ernst & Young’s Business Advisory Services and with KPMG Consulting and has worked largely in the media and communications sectors. At KPMG, Alan led the Information, Communication and Entertainment sector financial management consulting practice. Alan’s previous corporate management roles include those of International Finance Director of Longman and Group Development Manager of MAI plc (now United Business Media). He is a Trustee of the Freud Museum London. Alan is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Accountants, and has an MA in Modern Languages (French and Spanish) from Cambridge University.
Richard Steele (known as Dick) is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Advisor. He is Non-Executive Chairman of Portmeirion Group plc which is quoted on AIM. He is also a Non-Executive Chairman of VC backed Country Baskets and Racoon International. Dick has been a director of listed companies since 1987, six different companies in total giving 24 years of continuous listed company experience. His main sector experience is in retail, consumer and branded products. Dick is also a lay member of Council at Keele University.
The Quoted Companies Alliance has also re-elected the following board members: Paul Clarke, Rob Collins, Michael Higgins, Jeremy Landau and Paul Lee. Jonathan Eardley and Ash Mehta have now stepped down from the Quoted Companies Alliance’s board.
The Quoted Companies Alliance board also appointed Theresa Wallis, Chairman of LidCo Group plc, and Michael Higgins, Non-Executive Chairman of Ebiquity plc as Deputy Chairmen.
