The QCA Markets and Regulations, Legal and Corporate Finance Advisors Committees assisted in preparing the QCA's response to HM Treasury's consultation on 'A New Approach to Financial Regulation: Judgement, Focus and Stability', which discusses the future of the UK Listing Authority. We argue that we have reservations about the UKLA continuing in its current form and we hope that the future reorganisation of the regulatory structure is used as an opportunity to improve and support the structure and culture of the UKLA.
Furthermore, the QCA notes that we believe the function of the UKLA will be better suited as part of the Consumer Protection and Markets Authority (CPMA); however, steps should be taken to ensure that it is not disproportionately influence by the consumer protection aspect of the new authority.
